The German Association for East European Studies (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde, DGO) is the largest network of Eastern European researchers and experts in the German-speaking countries. Twice a year, the members of the DGO receive the newsletter, in which organization reports on planned activities and offers a review of events and the publications of the past six months.
DGO wanted the biannual publication to be more engaging but lacked in-house expertise in the field of editorial design. I redesigned the magazine intending to infuse the publication with a fresh look and feel. Working closely with the editorial team, I created a new framework – a taxonomy of page templates to aid publishing. One of the bald moves in the new design was to incorporate photography in larger sizes, making the publication more appealing to a broader range of audiences.
